WhatsApp is one of the most used instant messaging services in the world. In most cases and devices the service works without problems, but as with any other service of this type there are times when it may fail.
Because it usually works without problems, it is not always easy to know how to fix a problem when it arises, so we have compiled the five most common problems with WhatsApp and their usual solutions on iPhone 11/11 Pro (Max) / XS / XR / X / 8/8 Plus / 7/7 Plus / 6s / 6s Plus / 6/6 Plus with iOS 13/12.
The most common WhatsApp problems on iOS
In the following lines we tell you the most common problems of WhatsApp on iPhone or iPad.
Problem 1: impossible to connect to WhatsApp
A few years ago it was common for it to suffer service outages, although luckily today this hardly ever happens. That is why if the service fails it is likely that the problem is with our device.
The usual reason is usually a poor internet connection, either via WiFi or LTE. The solution is to get better coverage to increase the speed of the connection or connect to another faster WiFi network.
Problem 2: can’t send messages
There are several reasons that can cause a message to not be sent through WhatsApp. The most common is that at that time the device has a very slow connection to the Internet. The second is that the person we are trying to send the message to has blocked us and the third, and less likely, is that the service’s servers are failing for whatever reason.
Problem 3: the app does not open correctly or keeps loading
It may be the least common problem we have included in this list, but it is important to mention it.
The app freezes when loading and only shows a blank screen. In this situation there is not much to do other than close the app and reopen it to see if it was a specific failure.
In case the error continues, checking the available free space or restarting the device can help to solve the problem.
Problem 4: unable to verify the phone number
On some occasions it is possible that we try to activate our WhatsApp account on a device and we do not receive the verification code by SMS.
The reasons can be several, from a specific failure of the verification service, a failure of the telephone operator to deliver the SMS or even a WhatsApp block for using modified apps such as WhatsApp Plus that go against the license of use from service.
Problem 5: the app closes automatically
This problem can arise after updating the app itself and even updating the iPhone to iOS. The iPhone / iPad applications close themselves is a very annoying problem and sometimes has a rather difficult solution.
Part 2: Solutions to the most common WhatsApp problems
In the following lines we show some of the most common solutions to WhatsApp failures. We start with the simplest and we increase to the most complex that you will only have to use if the first options have not worked.
- Solution 1: close the WhatsApp app completely
- Solution 2: check that there is an Internet connection
- Solution 3: update the app to the latest version
- Solution 4: reinstall the app
- Solution 5: fix iOS crashes with Tenorshare ReiBoot (no data loss) Solution 6: restore device (data loss)
Solution 1: close the WhatsApp app completely
Closing the WhatsApp app completely can solve many of the app problems if they are caused by a specific software failure.
For this we must do the following:
Step 1: Press the home button twice to access multitasking management.
Step 2: Find the WhatsApp app in the list of background apps.
Step 3: Swipe the app up to close it completely.
After this, run the app again from the home screen. If everything went great, if not, try the next possible solution.
Solution 2: check for internet connection
Make sure WhatsApp has an internet connection at all times. If you think this may be the problem, open Safari and check that you can access Google, Facebook or any other web page. If the pages load it means that the phone is connected to the Internet.
Solution 3: update the app to the latest version
Keeping the WhatsApp app updated to the latest version is a very good measure to avoid problems. To update it, we only have to access the Updates tab of the App Store and follow the instructions to install the latest version if you don’t already have it.
Solution 4: reinstall the app
Another good option to fix WhatsApp problems on iOS is to reinstall the app. To do this, we must uninstall the app completely and then reinstall it from the App Store.
The concrete steps to follow are the following:
Step 1: Press and hold the WhatsApp icon until an icon with an X appears in the upper left corner.
Step 2: Touch the icon with the X and confirm that you want to delete the app in the menu that will appear.
Step 3: Open the App Store, search for WhatsApp and install it again.
Solution 5: fix iOS crashes with Tenorshare ReiBoot (no data loss)
WhatsApp failures can be caused by updating iOS and with Tenorshare ReiBoot fixing them is very simple.
What we must do to apply this solution is the following:
Step 1: We download and install Tenorshare ReiBoot on our computer.
Step 2: We run the software and connect the iPhone to the PC with the USB cable. Click on Fix all iOS crashes.
Step 3: In the new window click on Repair everything now.
Step 4: Click on the Download option to download the installation package for the iOS version that you have installed on the iDevice. Click on Start repair.
After this, the software will start the repair and once it is finished you can test that WhatsApp works again. This iOS system recovery program works great in fixing iOS 12 errors.
Solution 6: restore device (data loss)
If you’ve gotten this far, everything else has failed and it’s time to think of more drastic measures: restore the device.
Restoring means removing all data, settings and apps from the device and reconfiguring as if it were new. Thanks to this, all problems caused by software failures disappear.
To restore factory iPhone we must do the following:
1. We access Settings – General – Reset.
2. Tap on Delete contents and settings.
Once the device has been restored and restarted, we will have to activate the device again and install the WhatsApp app.
